Videos to watch

These past two months have been very busy for us here at Our Future, not only has our report been shared globally around the world, we have had three launches. The first in London, on May 10, the second in Washington Dec on June 6, the third in Seattle on June 15. This is only the beginning with more scheduled to take place in Melbourne, Beirut, Toronto, and Islamabad to name a few.

This post is a quick one to highlight some videos we have that talk about the Commission, how it started, the report, its findings, the importance of governments engaging with adolescents and what young adults think are the big issues facing them today.

Chiedza’s song: A story from Zimbabwe in support of the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing (by LSHTM). This trailer tells the story of a young Zimbabwean woman growing up with HIV, and highlights some of the themes developed by our  Commission. The longer film is shot entirely from Chiedza’s point of view – as she tells her story of survival through teenage years. It is designed to provoke discussion among community audiences.

Youth Commissioner, Kikelomo Taiwo-Idowu emphasises the importance of governments engaging with adolescents and ensuring that young people around the world are given a voice.

Hear what some University of Melbourne students, from Australia have to say about the big health issues faced by adolescents and young adults today.

Commission chair, Professor George Patton discusses how the world’s 1.8 billion adolescents have the power to positively transform the future.

Commissioner, Professor Susan Sawyer discusses where the burden of disease lies in adolescents and how a broader approach beyond the health sector is needed to improve adolescent health around the world.
