WHO Youth Council

Empowering young people to shape decisions that impact their lives and wellbeing lies at the core of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) mission. With this goal in mind, WHO has established the WHO Youth Council, a vital initiative aimed at fostering the active participation of young individuals in addressing global health priorities.

The WHO Youth Council was founded in 2022 and consists of youth representatives from various health and non-health organizations and movements. Serving as a dynamic network, its primary objective is to amplify the voices and experiences of young people, harness their expertise, energy, and ideas, and advance public health on a global scale.

As an advisory body, the Youth Council actively engages with the WHO Director-General and Senior Leadership, offering valuable insights and recommendations. It serves as a platform for designing and nurturing innovative initiatives while expanding existing youth engagement programs within the WHO.

We are delighted to announce that the Second Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing has been selected to join the WHO Youth Council for a two-year term. Youth Commissioners, Dr. David Imbago-Jácome and Surabhi Dogra, will serve as the Commission’s representatives, bringing their expertise and dedication to the council’s important work.

By involving young people in decision-making processes and leveraging their unique perspectives, the WHO Youth Council aims to drive meaningful change and improve the health and well-being of communities worldwide.
