Dr Ritsuko Kakuma is Senior Research Fellow at the Global and Cultural Mental Health Unit, Centre for Mental Health at The University of Melbourne. Her research and development activities are primary based in low- and middle-income settings and include areas of: mental health policy and system strengthening, human resources for mental health, mental health stigma and discrimination, knowledge translation, and health research capacity development. She is currently engaged in projects in community-based mental health care in Vietnam, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa, India and Nepal. She is also developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks for mental health systems both domestically and globally.
